Dahlia Daisy Flower is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as delicate and beautiful as her namesake flower, and oh-so-sweet! She currently weighs about 35 pounds and is expected to reach a maximum of 40-45 pounds. Dahlia is a delightful pup who loves her morning routine of potty breaks, backyard zoomies, and brisk walks. She's a near-perfect leash walker, unless a squirrel catches her eye! She adores hitting the trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets, both human and canine. Dahlia can be a bit shy with new people but warms up quickly and is a water enthusiast, not afraid to jump into creeks or rivers. She would make an amazing camping companion!
During the workday, Dahlia is happy to snooze by her foster mom's side and enjoys her zoomie breaks with the four other dogs in the home. She lives with two small female dogs, one medium male dog, and one large female dog, and gets along beautifully with all of them. When playing with smaller dogs, they should be able to assert their boundaries so she learns how they like to play. Dahlia also loves to chase pine cones and carry around big sticks!
Ideal Home
Dahlia would be happiest with another playful dog in the home or the opportunity for regular doggy daycare. She is a very dog-social girl who thrives on canine companionship. While she has not been tested with cats or children, we believe she would do well with respectful children 8 and up who will play with her. We can arrange an overnight cat test if needed. Homes with shared walls should consider her vocalizations when left alone in her crate.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP vaccinations with boosters, Bordetella, Rabies, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, a 12-month injectable heartworm preventative, a heartworm test, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house trained. She will cry in her crate initially when left alone but does settle eventually. This may need to be re-established in her new home. She settles beautifully in her crate at night once a routine is established. She would eventually love to share a bed with her humans. She is excellent in public and a fantastic copilot in the car. She has a great appetite but eats at a moderate pace. While she doesn't overreact if another dog approaches her bowl, separate eating spaces are encouraged in multi-dog homes.
