Cheers

Cheers is a handsome gentleman who returned to us after being adopted as a puppy in 2015. He absolutely adores butt scratches and is a well-behaved housemate! Cheers can find big life changes a bit overwhelming, so he'll need an adopter with patience and understanding. He'll need several months to truly settle in and feel at home. Initially, Cheers can be a bit reserved with new people, not actively seeking interaction but not disliking them either. Once he feels safe and secure, he's a wonderful companion who enjoys napping on the couch nearby and happily accepts affection. While he might bark when feeling stressed or overwhelmed, this behavior significantly diminishes with time and comfort.

Ideal Home

Cheers would do best in a quiet, adult-only home where he can be the only pet. He gets easily overwhelmed by other dogs and children, and has a tendency to go after cats. A patient adopter who can provide him with ample time and space to adjust is key.

Ongoing Health

Cheers seems genetically predisposed to developing lumps and bumps. One cancerous mass was completely removed in the fall, but other lumps have been identified as non-concerning fatty masses. Many of his siblings have similar conditions and are doing well.

Training & Support

Cheers is house-trained. His barking when overwhelmed can be managed with time and building his confidence in his new environment.
