Chido

Charming Chido is a nearly 4-year-old, 63 lb American Bulldog mix with a heart full of love to give. Despite a tough start on the streets of Houston, Chido remains incredibly trusting and gentle, even with cats! He's a master of the simple life, enjoying short walks, playtime with his toys, and plenty of naps. Chido is known to be good with children and most dogs, though he can be selective, preferring canine companions who don't try to assert dominance or get too boisterous. He's a sensitive soul who can be frightened by loud noises like thunder and fireworks, but with your comforting presence, he quickly settles down. Chido is a devoted indoor companion who truly deserves a loving and patient home.

Ideal Home

Chido thrives in a calm household with someone who works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety and would love a constant companion.

Ongoing Health

Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on a low-cost monthly medication as part of a slow-kill treatment plan. Annual testing is recommended to monitor his heartworm status. He also experiences occasional hip arthritis, which seems to stem from an old injury. While it hasn't occurred recently, it can make it difficult for him to move initially. Hip massages and rest help him feel better.

Training & Support

Chido is potty trained, walks well on a leash, and knows basic commands. He is sensitive to loud noises like thunder and fireworks and will need reassurance during these times.
