About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male hound/retriever mix who weighs about 56 pounds. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and be with his people. Comet was rescued from the streets and is now in a foster home, waiting for his forever family. He has a fairly high, but not obnoxious, energy level and loves to run and play! He's also shown no food aggression and is happy to share with his canine companions. Comet has done well with indoor cats and children, though we recommend a home with kids aged 10 years or older who understand animal behavior cues, as he has a bit of a herding instinct. While he is a bit wary of men initially, he warms up with patience and consistency, and adores his foster dad. Comet's favorite thing is to please, making him easy to train with positive reinforcement. He's a resilient and adaptable dog looking for a loving home.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home where he has a canine sibling to snuggle and play with.

Ongoing Health

Comet is up to date on vaccinations and is neutered.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his crate without issue and does not pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house since being in foster care and will alert you when he needs to go potty. He doesn't appear to have separation anxiety but is crated when unsupervised because he enjoys tasting things. Comet is a bit wary of men and will need patience and consistency to come around, though he adores his foster dad.
