Junior Bear honestly looks like someone accidentally combined a sad old grandpa, a baby polar bear, and Sid from Ice Age into one dog and somehow... it works perfectly! This poor guy was found in rough shape, but watching him transform has been so special. His coat is coming back in beautifully, and while we can't guarantee exactly how fluffy he'll end up, he's becoming cuter by the day. Between his permanently expressive facial expressions, the little tongue that always sticks out, and his shy, gentle personality, Junior is one of those dogs that completely sneaks up on your heart.
Ideal Home
Junior is a gentle soul who needs a patient and understanding home that will allow him to warm up on his own terms. He does best with calm energy and slow introductions. He would thrive with lower to medium energy, respectful dogs that will give him space and not overwhelm him socially. He has also shown to be very respectful and appropriate around cats. Access to a small yard would be beneficial for him to settle in more comfortably.
Ongoing Health
Junior Bear is believed to be a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix, approximately 6 years old and around 50 lbs. As with any rescue, breed and exact age are a best guess. He has received all age-appropriate vetting.
Training & Support
Junior is a "slow burn" with new people and environments. Baby talking him, speaking softly, and letting him approach you on his own terms works wonders. Once he warms up, he begins asking for affection and showing a sweet, cuddly side. He is very easy on leash, but can freeze if there is too much pressure; less pressure and more patience is key. He is crate trained and quiet in the home.
