About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. Comet, also known as Buddy, was rescued from the streets and saved from the county shelter in San Antonio. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to please and is always looking for cuddles. He's a resilient and adaptable dog who would be thrilled to find his forever family.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to snuggle and play with, as he gets along well with the female dog in his foster home. He has also done well with indoor cats and children. Due to his herding instincts, we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Comet is a bit wary of men but adores his foster dad, so patience and consistency will help him warm up to new male figures in his life.

Ongoing Health

Comet is a healthy boy who has been fully vetted.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without issue and does not pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't appear to have separation anxiety, but he does have a tendency to "taste test" things when unsupervised, so he is crated when left alone. He is a quick learner and enjoys training, so positive reinforcement will go a long way.
