Meet Roxy and Max! These beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd mixes are looking for a loving home, and ideally they will get to stay together. Through no fault of their own, they need a new family that can provide them with the time, structure, and stability they deserve. Roxy is a 42-pound sweetheart with a calm, affectionate personality. She loves cuddling with her people and enjoys spending time nearby, but she's also wonderfully independent and not overly clingy. Compared to Max, she's more relaxed and easygoing. Max is a 48-pound loyal, playful boy who loves outdoor adventures, walks, and exploring with his people. He has all the classic German Shepherd qualities...intelligent, devoted, and an excellent watchdog who takes his job of protecting his home seriously. Max thrives on activity and would love a family that enjoys getting outside and including him in their adventures. Both dogs are house trained and currently use a pet door to access the yard for bathroom breaks. They sleep in the garage and have adjusted well to a routine. Neither dog is a picky eater, making mealtime easy and stress-free.
Ideal Home
A family committed to keeping them together, with German Shepherd or large-breed experience preferred. An owner who can provide structure, consistency, and ongoing training is a must. An active family for Max and plenty of love and companionship for both dogs would be wonderful. A secure fenced yard would be a plus.
Ongoing Health
Roxy and Max are both spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. They also come with Tractive GPS trackers that have approximately one year of coverage remaining. Roxy can be stressed during nail trims and may require a muzzle for that process.
Training & Support
Roxy walks nicely on leash and generally gets along with other dogs after a slow, proper introduction. She enjoys chasing squirrels and can be reactive to passing cars. Because of her strong prey drive and tendency to wander, she is not a candidate for off-leash activities. Max can be reactive toward new dogs at first and will need continued training and management in this area. His owner had him professionally assessed and found that he responds very well to confident, consistent leadership. He would thrive with an experienced, active owner who understands working-breed dogs and is committed to continuing his training.
