About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male, hound/retriever mix who weighs 56 pounds. He's a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and be with his people. Comet was rescued from the streets and saved from the county shelter in San Antonio, Texas. He's lived with another female dog and would be happiest in a home where he has a sibling to snuggle and play with. He was initially wary when being introduced to other dogs, but he is now very friendly and playful. Comet has a fairly high energy level and loves to run! He has a balanced playstyle and has shown no food or resource aggression around other dogs. This handsome fellow has also been around indoor cats and children, and does well with both. He does have a bit of a herding instinct, so we recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older, or those who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. Comet is fully house, crate, and leash-trained. He sleeps in his kennel at night without whining or crying, and he does not pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house since going into foster care and will alert you when he needs to go potty. Comet doesn't appear to have any issues with separation anxiety, but he is crated when he cannot be supervised, as he does enjoy tasting things he shouldn't. While he has made great strides in his foster home, Comet is a bit wary of men. He adores his foster dad, so if his new home is willing to be patient and consistent, Comet will come around. Comet’s favorite thing is to please, making him easy to train without the need for harsh corrections. He is a resilient and adaptable dog looking for his forever family!
