Maya

Maya is a beautiful and intelligent 1-year-old, approximately 30 lb Labrador Creole mix. She was rescued in March 2024, having been found with her six siblings in a field. Maya is a very loving, obedient, and playful girl who thrives on affection. She's energetic and sociable with people, children, and other dogs, enjoying walks, runs, and playtime. While a little shy when first meeting new people, she quickly melts into your arms once she feels comfortable. Maya is also a dog and cat-friendly companion, described as docile, loyal, joyful, and funny. She is crate and leash trained.

Ideal Home

Maya would do best in a home with an active family who enjoys outdoor activities and has a fenced backyard. She needs a family with an open mind about the behaviors of rescued animals, understanding their need for protection and education. Experience in dog behavior and training is preferred, along with high tolerance and patience for rescued puppies. Maya is not house-trained, and adopters should understand that rescued pets may have an adjustment period and require patience and understanding.

Ongoing Health

Maya has completed a comprehensive health protocol, including being spayed/neutered, vaccinated (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), dewormed, and microchipped. She has also tested negative for heartworm and undergone a 4DX test. She is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra) for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. A health certificate and vaccination booklet are available.

Training & Support

Maya is crate and leash trained. However, she is not house-trained, and adopters should be prepared for this. Patience and understanding are crucial for her adjustment period in a new home.

Transportation

Maya is currently fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is ready to travel to the East Coast on our next cross-country trip. Transportation to the adopter's home address is available for an additional fee of $400.00, which will be paid by the adopter prior to the pet's departure.
