Meet Legend! This charming 10-year-old Pomeranian mix, weighing around 9lbs, is a true gem with a luxuriously soft white and tan coat and a frosted face. His tail never stops wagging, and his short legs are always eager to follow you around. Legend is a true lap dog looking for a comfortable place to retire and shower his new family with love. He was found as a stray and rescued by our team, leaving behind a difficult past for a future filled with doting and adoration. He's an incredibly easygoing companion, and his cuddles are truly legendary!
Ideal Home
Legend would thrive in a home where someone can be around for him, as he loves to be part of the action. He's crate-trained but prefers to be out and about, and any home should be one where his occasional barking won't disturb neighbors. He enjoys his daily walks and doesn't require a yard, just a safe place to do his business and a family committed to keeping him active. He would do well in a home with older children (6+) who can learn to handle a small senior dog gently, or an adult-only home with plenty of lap space and time for walks. While he's okay with other dogs his size, he's equally happy in a home without other animals. He hasn't been cat tested, but given his friendly personality, he might do well with dog-savvy cats.
Ongoing Health
Legend has a remarkable story of resilience. He underwent two dental surgeries to address severe dental disease, which unfortunately led to a temporary neurological episode under anesthesia and a minor seizure afterward. These episodes are being attributed to pain from the procedures, and he hasn't had any further seizures. He is left with about 8 teeth. He will likely need future dental care. He is up-to-date on all other vaccines and tests. To keep him healthy, he will need to be on flea, tick, and heartworm preventative.
Training & Support
Legend is crate-trained and handles it well, even going in when asked. He used to have a slight marking habit which has resolved with neutering and consistency in his foster home, but new adopters should be prepared for potential marking with proper supervision and crating. He's not yet mastered commands but is eager to please and will benefit greatly from formal training, which is a mandatory part of his adoption. He also enjoys grooming and sees it as an opportunity for closeness.
