Tommy is a delightful 10-month-old Terrier mix, weighing approximately 27 lbs and expected to reach around 37 lbs. He was born at the shelter after his pregnant mother was rescued. Tommy is a sweet and loving boy who is affectionate and playful with his dog friends. He's still learning to trust new people and can be a little shy and nervous at first. His adventurous spirit means he loves to run and play!
Ideal Home
Tommy would thrive in a home with owners who have an open heart and mind towards the unique needs and behaviors of rescued animals. Experience with dog behavior and training is highly recommended, as is a high level of patience and understanding. He needs a family that recognizes that rescued animals may have experienced trauma and require an adjustment period. Tommy is not house-trained and requires ongoing support in this area.
Ongoing Health
Tommy has a comprehensive health protocol that includes being spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella). He has been dewormed, tested negative for heartworm, and receives monthly prevention for fleas, ticks, and heartworm (Nexgard Spectra). He comes with a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Tommy is not house-trained and will require dedicated effort and patience from his adoptive family to achieve this. As he is still learning to trust, consistent positive reinforcement and gentle introductions to new people will be key to his continued development.
