Meet Elsa, a sweet, friendly, and playful Formosan Mountain Dog mix who is ready to find her forever home! Elsa is a four-year-old, 42 lb female who was rescued as a six-month-old pup from a precarious environment. She was brought home by a kind rescuer who feared for her safety. Elsa's journey began then, and she's been patiently waiting for a loving family to call her own. She's a gentle soul who gets along with everyone she meets. In a canine pack, she naturally takes on a "big sister" role, keeping things in order. When she's with people, she's incredibly sweet, calm, and collected.
Ideal Home
Elsa would thrive in a home with an experienced, understanding, patient, and active dog owner. She needs a family that will not leave her alone for long periods (less than 6 hours). A home with a fenced yard for potty breaks is preferred, and she must be allowed on the couch. While she's good with other dogs, she prefers a calm, not-too-hyper companion. She is NOT a good fit for homes with cats. She also prefers a home without children under 12 years old.
Ongoing Health
Elsa was diagnosed with heartworm in July 2024 but has since completed treatment and tested negative in May 2025. She is up-to-date on vaccinations, her blood panel work is good, and she was spayed in August 2021. She is considered very healthy.
Training & Support
Elsa is house-trained and needs to be taken out for potty breaks about four times a day, or she can use pee pads. She prefers to do her business in a fenced yard or on walks. She is not a barker and has no chewing issues. While she has no food or toy possessiveness with people or dogs, she may try to take food from other dogs if they are eating together, so separate feeding might be necessary.
