Paco is a 10-year-old, 11 lb Chihuahua/Dachshund mix who is ready to find his forever home. He's spent a little too much time in foster care and is eager to plant some permanent roots with his special someone. Paco can be a bit of a challenge initially due to his fear-based issues, especially with new people. He needs an adopter who understands and respects his need to adjust at his own pace, which might mean being ignored for days upon arrival. He's not a fan of being picked up and prefers to initiate affection by settling on your lap. While Paco is unlikely to ever be a social butterfly with visitors, once he trusts you, he forms an incredibly strong bond and wants to be the center of your world.
Ideal Home
Paco needs a patient adopter who understands his fear-based behaviors and is willing to let him set the pace for interaction. He's best suited for a single-person home, though he might adjust to a two-person household. He's not recommended for homes with children or where children frequently visit. Paco also needs a home without shared walls with neighbors, as he's quite vocal about everything happening around him. A securely fenced yard is a must, as walks are not his preference.

Paco is neutered, heartworm negative, and up to date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Paco can be bossy with smaller dogs and cats who don't stand their ground, though he generally tolerates them and appreciates the company of larger dogs. He's a fantastic alert system for any neighborhood activity, from falling leaves to the wind changing direction!
