Max is a handsome 6-year-old, 71 lb Akita/Husky mix with one stunning blue eye and a heart full of love. He's neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and completely house-trained, not having a single accident in his foster home. Max truly embraces life with his beautiful, intelligent nature. He's obedient, eager to learn, and incredibly attuned to the people around him. Max already knows many commands and is a quick study who relishes working with his handler. He forms strong connections when given a little time and space to warm up. Once he feels secure, his calm and joyful personality truly blossoms. Max's journey began when he was found abandoned at a kill shelter in NY, sadly landing on the euthanasia list. Overwhelmed and scared, he was hesitant on walks and uncertain of people. He'd gently take treats, only to drop them and eat them after the person moved away, a clear sign he yearned to trust but needed to feel safe. Upon arriving at his foster home, Max began to show trust almost immediately, taking a treat directly from his foster's hand. It was evident his trust would grow with time and patience. Within a week, Max settled in, becoming more comfortable, calm, and happy to be around people. He adores his walks, exploring new environments, and going for car rides. Max also has a playful, sweet side, enjoying carrying his favorite toys, particularly his duck, avocado, and little mouse. He thrives with a predictable routine and enjoys relaxing in his crate after his adventures. While he may be a bit reserved initially, once he trusts you, he becomes a devoted and loyal companion.
