Codie is a 5-year-old gentleman, estimated to be a chihuahua/dachshund mix, who is looking for his forever companion. He came to us when his elderly owner passed away and he found himself in a shelter facing an uncertain future. Codie is a true "velcro dog" who thrives on close companionship and wants to be by his person's side at all times. He was accustomed to living with a senior and would make an excellent devoted companion for someone seeking that kind of bond. Codie tends to form strong attachments to his person and can be a bit shy and takes time to warm up to new people, especially men, though he will eventually accept tasty treats from them.

Codie would do best in a calm, quiet home with fewer visitors and a predictable routine. He needs a patient family who understands he may take time to adjust and trust. Due to his tendency to bark at new people, he is not recommended for apartments or homes with shared walls.
