About Skye
Meet Skye!
Skye is a stunning young Anatolian Shepherd mix girl with the sweetest soul, a goofy personality, and so much love to give. At just about 1 year old, she's at that fun age where she still has playful puppy energy, but she's also beginning to settle into becoming an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. Skye's story started when her current family found her abandoned on the side of the road in Eastern Washington at only around 4 months old. Since then, she's been deeply loved and cared for, and now they're committed to helping her find the right long-term home where she can truly thrive. This beautiful girl is affectionate, cuddly, playful, and endlessly entertaining. She loves cozy naps, lounging near her people, exploring outdoors, and making everyone laugh with her silly antics and expressive personality. Whether she's curled up nearby, zooming around the yard, or proudly claiming the middle of a bush as her newest nap spot, Skye brings joy everywhere she goes.
Ideal Home
Skye is incredibly people-friendly and has never shown aggression toward humans. She bonds deeply with her people and absolutely loves being included in daily life. However, as a young livestock guardian breed mix, it's very important that potential adopters understand the unique traits and needs that often come along with breeds like Anatolian Shepherds and other guardian/working breeds. These dogs are intelligent, loyal, observant, protective by nature, and often require more structure, space, confidence-building, and breed understanding than the average dog. Because of this, a home with prior experience owning livestock guardian breeds, herding breeds, working dogs, or other similar large guardian-type breeds is strongly preferred. If not, potential adopters are encouraged to spend time researching the breed mix and what life with these types of dogs can realistically look like before applying. Skye's ideal home will likely include a calm but active household, plenty of space to safely exercise and decompress (no apartments, townhomes, or homes with no or small yards), a securely fenced yard, property, or rural-style setting, adopters committed to continued structure, leadership, and enrichment, and someone home more often than not who wants a loyal companion by their side.
Ongoing Health
Skye is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. All known medical and behavioral information is disclosed prior to adoption.
Training & Support
Skye is potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. She has also completed obedience training. At this time, Skye would do best as the only dog in the home. While she has done well with dogs in neutral settings like walks and outings, she has struggled sharing indoor living space with another dog and has shown resource guarding behaviors in the home environment. Because of this, she'll be happiest and most successful where she can fully relax and enjoy being the center of attention.
