About Duke Ellington the Smooth Talkin Sweet Heart
Duke Ellington is basically what would happen if pure serotonin came to life in dog form! This boy is all smiles, all wiggles, and all happiness, all the time. He's the type of dog that wakes up every morning genuinely excited to be alive and makes sure everyone around him feels the same way too. Between his goofy, bouncy personality, giant happy grin, and the way he throws his whole body into loving people, Duke has this larger-than-life presence that is impossible not to fall for.
He is playful, affectionate, hilariously expressive, and just has that lovable goofy-boy energy that keeps you constantly entertained. Honestly, he feels less like a dog and more like your overly enthusiastic best friend trapped in a pittie body. And yes, his name is Duke Ellington for a reason because this boy fully believes he has a singing career ahead of him and is more than willing to bless you with his dramatic little opera performances whenever the mood strikes!
Duke Ellington is believed to be a pittie/boxer mix, approximately 2 years old, and currently weighs 50 lbs. He truly LOVES people and is very affectionate, people-oriented, and thrives on attention and companionship. He will greet you with the same excitement as if you've been gone for years after a quick trip to the mailbox. Duke walks through life with a giant smile plastered across his face and a goofy, joyful energy that is infectious. He also fully believes he is a lap dog despite being 50 lbs. and will absolutely try to get as close to you as physically possible whenever given the opportunity.
Duke is also dog-friendly and is currently fostered in a multi-dog household. He LOVES to play and has a goofy, rowdy, rough-and-tumble play style. He'll do best with dog friends that enjoy an active, playful style and won't be overwhelmed by his enthusiasm. He truly just seems so happy to have friends to romp around with and be part of the fun. Duke does know when to take play breaks and will adapt to whatever you need from him. He already knows how to sit and is treat-motivated, genuinely enjoying learning and engaging with his people. He is crate trained and potty trained. On leash, Duke can pull out of pure excitement, so continued leash work will definitely help him polish up his manners even more.
Ideal Home
Duke's ideal home would be with a semi-active family that wants a dog to truly be part of everyday life and appreciates a BIG personality in the home. A backyard is definitely important for this guy because he needs space to zoom around, play, burn energy, and occasionally perform one of his famous concerts for the neighborhood. Duke is so people-oriented and loves being involved in what his humans are doing, so he would do best in a home where he isn't left alone for super long stretches on a regular basis. Apartment life is probably not the best fit for this guy simply because his vocal talents are pretty impressive. He will thrive most in a home that can provide structure, routine, exercise, consistency, and people that embrace his goofy, larger-than-life personality for exactly what it is.
