Dewey is a smart and affectionate 2-year-old Carolina Dog mix, weighing around 45-50 pounds. He's the perfect blend of adventure buddy and snuggle enthusiast, ready to explore the great outdoors with you in the morning and relax by your side with your coffee in the afternoon. Dewey's intelligence shines through in his love for puzzle toys and games like hide-and-seek, and he's happiest when his mind is engaged. Sniffing is his favorite pastime, whether he's exploring the yard on a long line or discovering new scents on a hike. He absolutely adores snow and will bound through it with pure joy! Dewey also has a playful, goofy side, and has learned to love his squeaky ball and a good game of tug. He enjoys sturdy chews and collagen rolls to keep him happily occupied.
Ideal Home
Dewey thrives with structure and a consistent daily routine. He's looking for a home without young children and ideally with an experienced adopter who can provide a calm, structured environment. A yard for sniffing and enrichment would be a big plus.
Ongoing Health
Dewey is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Dewey does experience leash reactivity towards passing dogs, people, and bicycles. While he is improving with ongoing training, he will need a confident, dog-savvy adopter committed to continuing positive reinforcement training and mindful threshold management. He is crate trained, settles well, and patiently waits at the door before walks.
