So you can sleep tight

About Georgia

Georgia is a sweet, energetic 4-year-old yellow lab mix, weighing around 40 pounds. She came to us from a reservation where she lived outdoors and was used to fending for herself. Now, she's embraced indoor living and is ready to find a family to call her own. Georgia loves to be petted and will happily offer her paw to encourage you to give her attention. When you return home, she'll be excited to see you, and if she knows you well, she might even jump up to give you a big greeting! She enjoys chewing on rawhides and Nylabones and is learning to engage with dog toys. At night, she sleeps contentedly in a dog bed on the floor.

Ideal Home

Georgia would thrive in an active home with someone who enjoys activities like jogging or frequent trips to the dog park to ensure she gets plenty of exercise. A fenced yard, like the one she has now, is also ideal, as she respects a 4-foot fence and enjoys running around. She's more comfortable with children than adults but has been respectful of cats. While she's learning to socialize, she can be a bit shy around new people. Georgia also benefits greatly from having another dog in the home and enjoys the company of her current canine housemate.

Ongoing Health

Georgia has been spayed and is up-to-date on her distemper and rabies vaccinations. Her 4 DX test was negative, and she is microchipped and registered with Second Chance.

Training & Support

Georgia is housebroken and can be crated when left alone, though she may get into things or chew inappropriately if not provided with approved chew toys. She is learning to be comfortable being left for longer periods (up to 9 hours) when she has another dog for company, chew toys available, and knows a trip to the dog park is coming. She is not a big barker but might vocalize a little when left or kenneled. Georgia is learning to come when called and stays relatively close when at the dog park. She has adjusted well to car rides and can be safely tethered in the back seat.
