Scout

Happy boy Scout, a young adult male Staffordshire Terrier mix, is looking for a loving, playful family to indulge his cravings for cuddles and affection! If you are looking for a 50-pound lap dog, Scout may just be your pup. Be prepared for skills, snuggles, and slow leisurely walks. Scout is house-trained and has nice manners. He knows many cues, including Sit, Down, Touch, Stay, Paw, Place, Relax, and is working on his Heel cue. Scout is a clever boy who also likes toys and treats, and he loves attention and cuddles from his trusted friends. He is also a great walker!

Ideal Home

Scout would prefer a home with older children (14 and up). He can be selective about his dog friends and would need a home where dogs and toys/food are very carefully managed. Scout has indicated that he may be interested in chasing neighborhood cats around the Center. He can also be a bit sensitive about handling from people he does not know, and he can be nervous in the car.

Ongoing Health

Scout is current on heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative.

Training & Support

Scout wants to keep his toys close to him, but we can talk about what he loves to trade toys for! He enjoys learning, keeping his brain busy, and relaxing at the end of a long day with his best human friends. Scout settles nicely in his crate, but gets FOMO when he knows his human friends are near.

Scout is located at the Homeward Trails Adoption Center in Fairfax, VA.
