Meet Norman!
Norman is a snuggly, four-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever/American Pitbull Terrier mix who weighs 73 pounds. His heart is as big as his frame, and his adorable tortilla chip-shaped ears add extra charm to his already lovable look. Nicknamed the “velvet hippo,” Norman is a gentle and goofy soul who lives for cuddles, comfy dog beds, and quality time with his people. He’s a classic couch potato with a silly streak, often flopping onto his back mid-snuggle to flash a charming grin. Walks, training games, and belly rubs are among his favorite activities, and he truly shines when given love and structure. His routine is flexible; he’s happy as long as he has someone to nap near and a bit of mental stimulation each day. Norman is crate trained, house-trained, and knows several commands including “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “place,” and he’s currently mastering “leave it.” He responds well to positive reinforcement and consistency. Norman is selective with both dogs and new people and has shown reactivity in certain situations. While he has never displayed people-reactivity inside the home, he needs careful introductions and continued guidance when meeting new people outside. He does best living in a calm, structured environment with a secure, fenced yard and no small children. Norman is compatible with older, respectful kids and some dogs with slow introductions. He’s eager to share his big heart with a loving, committed family who will continue guiding him through life with kindness. He’ll come with everything he needs to settle in: a crate with a pad and cover, two dog beds, a dog cot, and his favorite toys.
