Ziggy

Meet Ziggy, a scruffy, polka-dotted little adventurer with a goofy personality and ears all his own! After being rescued from a high-kill shelter in Houston, he found a loving foster home and a second chance.

At around 2 years old and 16 pounds, Ziggy is small but packed with energy, curiosity, intelligence, and enthusiasm. He loves hiking, exploring, long walks, backyard patrols, car rides, and outdoor adventures. Once the adventure is over, he has a sweet off switch and enjoys attention, cuddles, and belly rubs.

Ideal Home

Ziggy would thrive with an active adopter who enjoys getting outside and can provide structure, ongoing training, exercise, and plenty of attention. He needs a securely fenced yard or suitable private outdoor space and would not be the best match for apartment living.

He does well with children, though older children or younger children comfortable around energetic dogs may be the best fit. Ziggy loves other dogs and could live with a confident dog who establishes boundaries or a laid-back dog who does not engage with his occasional humping when anxious or overstimulated. He could also be happy as the only dog. His cat compatibility is unknown, so homes with cats should be prepared for slow introductions and supervision.

Ongoing Health

Ziggy weighs approximately 16 pounds. He has a mild prey drive, so squirrels may catch his attention, but he is generally responsive to redirection.

Training & Support

Ziggy is potty trained, kennel trained, and walks beautifully on leash with very little pulling. He listens well, does great in the car, and is making progress with redirecting his tendency to hump other dogs when anxious or overstimulated.
