Meet Penny, a radiant 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix. Penny is a bright spirit with a big heart, overflowing with affection and ready to share her love. She's curious, social, and always seeking her next adventure, or a cozy cuddle session. Penny thrives in an active, engaged environment, close to her favorite people.
Ideal Home
Penny would flourish in a home that provides consistent structure, patience, and understanding. She needs a family who can help her channel her boundless energy positively and understand her need for reassurance. Given her exuberance and herding instincts, Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who are familiar with dog behavior. A cat-free home is recommended due to observed prey-driven behavior outdoors.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a spayed female and up to date on her vaccinations. She can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs, requiring separation during meal times and treat distribution. These are manageable behaviors that respond well to clear boundaries and respectful management.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and has been learning to be comfortable with separation, though she may whine or bark due to her strong bond with her humans. She hasn't been crate trained yet and prefers to be near her people. While she can be trusted loose in the house when items are put away, she sometimes chews on dog beds when bored. Leash walks are a favorite, and she settles in with guidance. She needs an adopter who enjoys walks, hikes, or runs, and who will go at her pace. Penny has likely experienced past trauma and can flinch easily, requiring reassurance and calm, consistent care.
