Meet Sam! This handsome pup is estimated to be about 3 years old and thought to be a Mastiff Mix, though he's on the smaller side for the breed. Sam's journey began at an overcrowded animal control facility down south, and he's now looking for a loving forever home to call his own. He absolutely adores people and is great with older children who are respectful of dogs. Sam would likely do well with lower-energy dogs, as more active pups might startle him and cause him to react. He's a big fan of belly rubs and treats, and while his training is a little rough around the edges, he's clearly eager to learn!
Ideal Home
Sam thrives with people who understand his sensitivities. He would do best in a home with older children who are respectful of dogs, and he would likely be comfortable with lower-energy canine companions. High-activity environments and youngsters might be too much for him, given his vision challenges.
Ongoing Health
Sam is in good physical shape overall, but he does have some vision issues that can cause him to sometimes miss things. This is why we believe he may be startled by high-energy dogs and very active young children. Sam is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative, and on preventative. We do plan to have him seen by an eye specialist for a comprehensive vision examination.
Training & Support
Sam is eager to learn and has a bit of training to do. He loves treats, which can be a great motivator! Understanding his vision challenges will be key to his success in a new home, helping to avoid startling him.
