Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male hound/retriever mix who weighs 56 pounds. He's a sweet and affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and is happy to be wherever you are! Comet was rescued from the streets and brought to a local shelter, where he was then saved by our rescue. He is a resilient and adaptable dog who is looking for his forever family!

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with a canine sibling to snuggle and play with, as he lives with another female dog and enjoys her company. He has done well with indoor cats and children, but we typically recommend a home with children aged 10 years or older who can understand and respect animal behavior cues. While Comet is wary of men, he adores his foster dad and will come around with patience and consistency.

Comet is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He sleeps through the night in his kennel without fuss and doesn't pull on the leash. He has had no accidents in the house since being in foster care and will alert you when he needs to go outside. Comet doesn't seem to have separation anxiety but is crated when unsupervised as he enjoys tasting new things! Comet’s favorite thing is to please, making him easy to train and responsive to gentle guidance.

Transporation

Comet is currently in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas. He can be transported out of state once an approved adopter is lined up. Transports run every few weeks, and he will be on the next available transport once approved. If you have a specific time period you can accept a dog, please apply at that time.
