Ruby

Ruby is a sweet, devoted 5-year-old Cocker Spaniel girl with gorgeous tri-color parti coloring and big brown eyes that’ll melt your heart. She weighs a trim 25lbs and positively wiggles with joy when she’s happy! Ruby's person passed away, and she’s hoping to find a new favorite human. She’s shy at first with new people, but once she warms up, she bonds completely and loves to be near her person — cuddling in bed at night, sitting close by, just knowing you’re there. Someone has always been home with her, so she’d do best with a family who isn’t gone for long stretches. Ruby is a good talker and house protector! She’ll bark when strangers come to the door, or when golf carts, the lawn crew, or big trucks pass by, so city/condo life is not for her. She also gets a little nervous during thunderstorms. She doesn’t know many other dogs but has liked the ones she’s met, including a little dog who used to visit her. She has never been around cats or kids, but may be okay with older, dog-savvy kids who understand she can be a little skittish.

Ideal Home

Ruby would do best with a family who isn’t gone for long stretches, as she is used to having someone home. She is not suited for city or condo living due to her tendency to bark at passersby.

Ruby is in great health.

Training & Support

Ruby is fully housetrained and will let you know when she needs to go out. She needs a harness instead of a collar, as she can be a bit of an escape artist. She likes short walks with encouragement and doesn’t like to be far away from her house. She is a good passenger in the car and an easy keeper for the groomer.
