Lady Charlotte, affectionately known as Lottie, is a precious 3-year-old Shih Tzu weighing a mere 6.5-7 pounds. This tiny lady with symmetrical brown and white markings on her face is ready to find her forever family. Lottie joined us when her previous owner could no longer care for her due to medical reasons. She has since received all her necessary medical treatments and has shown us her wonderful personality and what she needs to thrive.
Ideal Home
Lottie would be happiest in a home where someone is present most of the time, offering her companionship day and night. She can tolerate being alone for short periods if other pets are present, but she does not do well when left completely alone. She is a dog who wants to be by your side, sharing your sofa and bedroom. Crates are not an option for Lottie. Older children who have experience with dogs, understand dog behavior, and show great respect will be considered. Lottie would do well as an only dog, provided her humans are around frequently and she sees canine friends daily. She would also do well in a home with other laid-back dogs who will let her be queen. A secure fenced-in backyard or outdoor space would be ideal for her to play safely.
Ongoing Health
Lottie is spayed and up-to-date on her Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and Corona/flu vaccines. She has tested negative for heartworm, Lyme disease, ehrlichia, and anaplasmosis. She will need a dental cleaning in June 2026. Recent bloodwork showed nothing concerning. She is microchipped, has a negative fecal test, and is current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. A health certificate will be provided with her medical records. Lottie has hair, not fur, and will require professional grooming every 4-6 weeks.
Training & Support
Lottie is learning to be comfortable with a harness and leash and is being introduced to basic commands like "sit," "recall," and "look." Her new family will be expected to continue her training. Professional positive reinforcement training sessions are required for Lottie's adoption, which will also be a wonderful way to bond with her. She is also getting used to bath time and grooming, showing patience and enjoying the attention.
