About Sonny

Hi there! My name is Sonny, and I'm a one-year-old black Lab mix with a whole lot of love to give and a tail that never stops wagging! I tip the scales at around 50 pounds and my birthday is February 2, 2025. I'm a smart cookie and already know how to do my business outside, settle down in my crate, and walk nicely on a leash. I'm always eager to learn new things and become the very best boy I can be!

I'm a sweet and affectionate pup who just loves being close to my people. I'm happy to give you hugs and will happily follow you around – being near you is my favorite place to be! I'm great with kids, especially the little ones, and I absolutely love spending time outdoors, whether I'm exploring the yard or just enjoying the sunshine.

I generally get along well with other dogs, though I'm still learning how to navigate interactions with larger canine companions. My foster siblings are between 70–80 pounds and they tend to be a little intimidating to me. I also sometimes exhibit mounting behavior towards female dogs, but this is expected to decrease after I'm neutered at the end of October. I do enjoy chewing, so I'll need some supervision and a safe space, like my crate, that's free of tempting items. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting any cats yet, so that's a bit of a mystery, but I can be tested if needed!

Ideal Home

A home with loving humans who will cherish my affectionate nature and enjoy my love for the outdoors.

Ongoing Health

I'm up-to-date on my vaccinations and heartworm negative. I will be neutered at the end of October.

Training & Support

I'm house trained, crate trained, and leash trained. I'm an eager learner and will do best with ongoing positive reinforcement. I am a chewer, so supervision and providing appropriate chew toys will be important.
