Niko Bear looks like he stepped out of an action movie with his handsome, rugged exterior and mysterious aura. But don't let that tough guy facade fool you! This 4-year-old, 74-pound Pittie/Shepherd mix is a gentle giant with a heart of pure gold. He's a calm and easygoing soul who enjoys life at his own pace, finding comfort in relaxation and the company of his favorite people. Niko can take a moment to warm up to new faces, but once he trusts you, he'll lean his entire body weight into you for affection, melting your heart with his sweet, innocent nature.

Ideal Home

Niko would be happiest in a home with a backyard where he can enjoy moseying around and taking in the fresh air at his own pace. He would do best with another dog that shares his laid-back outlook on life – one who enjoys companionship without needing a constant playmate.

Ongoing Health

Niko is a healthy boy who has received all necessary vetting, including vaccinations, deworming, flea and heartworm prevention, and he is microchipped.

Training & Support

Niko is potty trained and has wonderful house manners. He is improving daily with crate training and is not destructive. While he is still building confidence with leash walking, he is eager to learn and would make a great companion for neighborhood strolls.

Niko is currently in Texas and can be transported to adoption locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, and Canada (pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT for Canadian adopters) via our USDA-certified transport system. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
