Blossom is one special dog, guaranteed to bring laughter and fun wherever she goes, despite her rough start to life! This sweet girl is about five years old, 40 pounds, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Blossom loves EVERYBODY and has been provided for all of her immediate medical needs. She is wonderful with all people and has shown no aggression or reactivity with other dogs. Her cat test is TBD, but we expect her to be trustworthy with cats due to her gentle demeanor.
Blossom was unfortunately abandoned by a breeder when she could no longer produce puppies. Her body showed years of neglect, being severely underweight with bad teeth and skin. Thankfully, a partner rescue saw her sweet nature and began her healing process. When Blossom's care was transferred to us, she needed emergency hernia repair and dental work. She has since gained weight, and her skin and coat have significantly improved.
She is obviously the product of irresponsible breeding practices, resulting in a short and wide build that unfortunately presents mobility challenges. However, Blossom makes the most of her VERY short legs! She hops when she's happy and loves to explore, albeit slowly. While exercise is good for her, she's learning to enjoy adventures in a stroller. Blossom loves meeting people and engaging with the world, especially with cuddles and belly rubs.
Ideal Home
Blossom will need a patient human for housebreaking. Stairs are an impossible barrier for her, so she will need a single-level home with a yard. Someone willing to install ramps, which she already uses well, would be wonderful. She will need a human who is physically fit and capable of accommodating her mobility challenges while appreciating her amazing personality. We suggest no small children, as she can be a bit of a "bowling ball." We think she would do fine with another calm, social dog.
Ongoing Health
Blossom has undergone emergency hernia repair and dental work. Dogs with her build will likely develop joint and mobility issues as they age, so we strongly suggest adopters sign up for pet insurance.
Training & Support
Blossom will need patience with housebreaking. She is already great at using ramps, but further support in navigating her mobility challenges will be key.
