Meet Spike!

Spike is a spirited two-year-old German Shepherd mix with a striking black coat and a bright white chest patch. He's about 50 pounds and has gorgeous, intelligent eyes that seem to study the world with curiosity. Spike is affectionate, highly intelligent, and wonderfully playful! He loves to snuggle and believes he's a lap dog, gently climbing into laps for belly rubs and attention. His favorite toys are squeaky ones, and he's an enthusiastic swimmer who loves to leap into the pool, making him a great companion for an active lifestyle.

Spike was initially fearful and easily startled but has grown tremendously in confidence over the past year and a half. He now seeks affection, initiates play, and comes over for cuddles. He may still bark at strangers out of uncertainty but recovers more quickly and looks to his people for reassurance.

Ideal Home

Spike needs a patient, experienced pet parent who can provide a fenced yard, loving guidance, and steady leadership in a caring environment. He can be selective with other dogs and would benefit from thoughtful introductions; he has lived peacefully with female dogs. Loud sirens can make him uneasy, and he sometimes whimpers if he sees his people cuddling another dog.

Spike is neutered and microchipped.

Training & Support

Spike is crate-trained and house-trained. He knows commands like sit, wait, crate, out, no, and comes when called. He waits patiently for treats and responds well to positive reinforcement. He relaxes in his crate and naps peacefully when left alone for short periods. With patience, reassurance, and continued confidence building, he continues to blossom.
