Meet Rocky—your "mini Rottweiler" in a 35-lb body! Rocky has been in our care for over a year and has truly become a legend. He survived for about a year and a half on the streets of Mississippi on his own, becoming an expert at evasion. After finally being caught, he escaped multiple times, even traveling 17 miles back to the only "home" he had known. He was eventually tranquilized and brought to safety. Now about 4 years old and under 35 lbs, Rocky has learned that humans can offer comfort and consistency. He bonds deeply and needs someone equally devoted. Rocky is very attached to his foster mom and struggles with big transitions, so his next move must be his last. He prefers women and would do best in a calm, stable home with fewer pets where he can be the sole focus and decompress. Because of his past, Rocky wears a GPS tracker at all times, and his adopter must be committed to his safety, structure, and containment. He is intelligent, resilient, and loyal, and with the right person, he will be an anchor in their world.

Rocky is currently in South Mississippi. Local and out-of-town adopters are welcome. Virtual meet-and-greets are available, and transport can be arranged to many states. The adoption fee includes transport to the city on this listing.
