Meet Penny, a delightful 2-year-old, 62-pound spayed female Shepherd/Husky mix who is brimming with personality and ready to share her abundance of love. Penny is a bright and affectionate girl who thrives on activity, engagement, and close companionship. Her curious and social nature means she's always up for an adventure, whether it's a hike, a run, or simply exploring new smells with her favorite people.
Ideal Home
Penny would thrive in an active home where she can stay engaged and close to her people. She enjoys the company of other dogs, but would do best with confident, medium-to-large dogs who can match her playful energy and help her learn social cues. Due to her prey-driven behavior towards cats outdoors, a cat-free home is recommended. Given her exuberance and herding instincts, Penny would do best in a home with older teens or adults who understand dog behavior and can help her channel her energy positively.
Ongoing Health
Penny is a healthy and spayed female.
Training & Support
Penny is fully house-trained and has done well when confined to a designated area when home alone, though she is still learning to be fully comfortable with separation. She is not yet crate trained and prefers to be near her people. She may whine or bark when separated, stemming from her strong bond with her humans. She can be trusted loose in the house when items are put away, but she does have a tendency to chew on dog beds when bored. Penny is still learning to refine her doggy social etiquette and can be protective of her space and high-value items like food or toys around other dogs. These manageable behaviors respond well to clear boundaries and respectful management. Penny flinches easily and needs reassurance and calm, consistent care, indicating she may have experienced past trauma. Patience and understanding will help her continue to blossom.
