Ava

Ava is a beautiful, 70-lb, 1½-year-old spayed female German Shepherd who is friendly, energetic, and displays some dominant behaviors. She is healthy and up-to-date on her core vaccinations. Ava is friendly with strangers, whether they are in the home or outside. She enjoys playing with squeaky toys and her rubber Kong. Ava is housetrained, sleeps at the foot of her person's bed, and is kept in the living room when left alone. She walks well on leash, though she pulls a bit, and is improving. Ava also obeys some basic commands like "sit" and "stay." She enjoys riding in a vehicle and is generally a polite passenger. Ava was adopted from the Woodland animal shelter in December 2024, where she had been for over three months.

Ideal Home

Ava would do best in a home without cats, as she has not been around them since her current caretaker adopted her. Her caretaker has not introduced Ava to children, so a home without them would be best.

Training & Support

Ava appears to be somewhat under-socialized with other dogs. While she initially co-existed with another dog, she later tried to exert dominance, which led to a fight. Since then, the two dogs have been kept separated. She walks okay on leash but pulls a bit, though she is continuously improving and obeys some basic commands.
