Lady

Lady is a 4-year-old, 37lb girl who has made tremendous progress in becoming more confident and brave. We don't know what happened to Lady in her past, but whatever it was, it made the outside world a hard place to be. She needs a very gentle and quiet home to thrive and requires a very patient adopter, preferably one who has experience with shy and nervous dogs. We started her on anti-anxiety medication, which has proven to be very helpful. While she still has a way to go to feel safe and blossom, we are so proud of how far she's come! In many ways, Lady is easygoing. She likes to get her business done quickly during her short walks and then head back inside. She's low-key and doesn't ask for much, just a warm bed, a full belly, and a quiet, peaceful space to call her own with her canine buddies.

Ideal Home

Lady needs time and patience, and her world needs to be kept small until she is ready. She needs to be given agency of choice – when she's ready to meet someone, preferred spaces, and the ability to go back inside when she feels scared, as feeling safe is paramount. She requires a quiet home without a lot of comings and goings, in a quiet neighborhood with a fenced-in yard. City dwelling is not suitable for Lady. She would do best with an adult-only household.

Ongoing Health

Lady is currently on anti-anxiety medication, which has been very helpful in improving her quality of life.

Training & Support

Lady requires patience and understanding as she continues to build confidence. A home with other resident dogs is required to help mentor her.
