Fernando Silverio is a charming Border Terrier Mix with the demeanor of a distinguished gentleman and a touch of grumpy old man. He's approximately 4 years old and weighs 13.4 lbs. Fernando is a calm and well-mannered dog who thrives in a relaxed environment. He's social and gets along well with other dogs, children, men, and women. While he may be a bit shy at first, especially when receiving affection, his true personality shines through once he feels secure, revealing an endearing and smile-inducing serious little face. His laid-back nature makes him an ideal companion for those seeking quiet company.
Ideal Home
Fernando would do best in a home with a fenced backyard and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities. He needs a family with a genuine intention to rescue and a deep understanding of the needs of rescued animals, including their potential need for protection and education. An ideal home would also have experience with dog behavior and training, or a willingness to hire a professional trainer to help this intelligent dog thrive. High tolerance and patience are essential for this rescued pup.
Ongoing Health
Fernando has undergone a comprehensive health protocol including: spay/neuter certificate, two DHPPI vaccines, rabies vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, deworming, microchipping, a 4DX test and certificate, a negative heartworm test certificate, and is on monthly preventive protection with Nexgard Spectra for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. He also has a health certificate and vaccination booklet. It's important to understand that rescued dogs may require an adjustment period and patience as they adapt to new environments.
Training & Support
Fernando is not house-trained. Due to his background as a rescued animal, he may have fears and anxieties that require patience and understanding to build trust. A consistent routine and clear boundaries will help him feel secure.

Transportation
Fernando is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico. He is out-of-town and ready to travel. Door-to-door delivery is available through scheduled trips (3-4 times per year) with a partnered transport company. The transport fee is $400 USD. For US adoptions, pets are transported across the border into Texas. For Canadian adoptions, pets are delivered to the nearest US-Canada border. Real-time updates will be provided through a private Facebook Messenger group.
