Meet Rocket, a handsome 3-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback/Pit mix who weighs a perfect 65 lbs of lean muscle and has the softest ears you'll ever feel. Rocket's journey began on the side of a busy Houston highway after being hit by a car. Despite his shock and the Texas heat, he allowed strangers to rescue him. After weeks of veterinary care, he's fully healed, heartworm-negative, and ready to share a lifetime of love.
Rocket is incredibly easygoing. He loves to zoom around the yard chasing balls, but he's also content to chill in his crate for hours like a perfect gentleman. He's house-trained and crate-trained, and he walks beautifully on a leash, even without a leash. He's already mastered sit, down, stay, come, and heel, thanks to a professional trainer who rescued him.
Rocket thrives on affection and leans into every pat and scratch. He's been gentle and patient with his foster family's three young children and doesn't mind the happy chaos of a busy household.
Rocket is dog-friendly and would enjoy a canine sibling or being your one-and-only. He has moderate energy; a good romp or a couple of walks will leave him content to nap the rest of the day. His only real vice is his love for chewing, but he sticks to his toys. Just be sure to get him some tough rubber toys!
Rocket is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. He's looking for a family who will love him as fiercely as he'll love them.
Ideal Home
Rocket would love a family who can provide him with plenty of affection and mental stimulation. He is a champion chewer, so providing him with durable toys is a must. His prey drive means he may chase squirrels.
