Meet Ivan! He's a year-and-a-half-old, 50-pound goofball who looks like he walked straight out of a dog-themed rom-com. He's all wiggly enthusiasm, silly charm, and sweet, squishy pittie/staffy-mix good looks, complete with radar-dish ears that make him look like a deer when he's curious. Ivan loves life and every kind of toy, especially his herding ball and games of fetch, though he might decide to keep the toy sometimes! He also enjoys playing in water. Ivan is a sweet, affectionate boy who warms up quickly. He might be a little aloof at first, but once he bonds with you, he's a total snuggle bug who will melt into your lap. He's treat-motivated and eager to learn, making training a fun and rewarding experience.
Ideal Home
Ivan would thrive in a home with a medium-energy female dog who enjoys playing but can also set boundaries when needed. He needs a feline-free home, as he views cats as fun sprinting targets. While he is gentle and loving, he is still young and energetic, so he would be wonderful with older children who won't be knocked over during zoomies. He could learn to give younger children more space with time. He will do best in a home with a yard to burn energy, an active adopter, someone who enjoys training and play, and clear boundaries and routine.
Ongoing Health
Ivan is up-to-date on all vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, and a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable. He has been heartworm tested and will be treated if necessary.
Training & Support
Ivan is treat-motivated and eager to learn, making him fun to train. He loves playing with other dogs but is still learning how to read their social cues. He can get a little too excited with playful dogs, but with guidance, he happily takes breaks and checks in. He is respectful with confident female dogs. However, he can be a bit much for mellow or insecure dogs due to his size and energy. He is currently working on crate training, potty training, and leash walking, and has received individualized behavior plans from our trainers.

Ivan is currently located in Texas. We facilitate nationwide adoptions using our rescue-run USDA-certified transport system. This ensures safe and comfortable travel with 24/7 care. Our transport includes drop-off locations in WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT, TN, KY, WI, MN, IL, WI, and Canada. Canadian adopters can pick up in Bellingham, WA, Buffalo, NY, or Brattleboro, VT. You will have the opportunity to track your pet's journey in real time and receive photo updates. A $87 surcharge applies due to rising transportation costs. Texas adopters must pick up from the Houston area.
