<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Augustus has quite the story, but he doesn't let it define him.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Before coming into rescue, he spent nearly a year surviving on his own. Despite countless people trying to help him, he was simply too scared to trust anyone. Thanks to an incredible team of dedicated trappers and volunteers who never gave up on him, Augustus is finally safe! </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Today, Gus is settling into the good life and showing us more of his personality every day. </span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">He can be a little reserved when meeting new people, which isn't surprising after everything he's been through, but patience goes a long way with this handsome guy. Once he feels comfortable, his sweet, gentle nature starts to shine. Watching him discover that people can be trusted has been one of the most rewarding parts of his journey.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2">Augustus is looking for a family that understands trust is earned, not rushed. In return, you'll get the privilege of watching a dog who has overcome so much continue to blossom into the companion he was always meant to be.</span></p>
<p class="p1"><span class="s2"><strong>Augustus is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm disease, so he will need to remain in the Austin area while completing his care through our veterinary partners.</strong> <em><strong>Don't let that scare you! Heartworm disease is very treatable, and we cover the cost of his treatment while providing all the guidance you'll need along the way.</strong></em></span></p>
