A little about them
Meet Birdie, an 8-year-old Cocker Spaniel and former puppy mill mama who is learning to enjoy life as a cherished companion. After arriving in foster care shut down and unsure, she has gradually become more comfortable, started playing with stuffed toys, and discovered how much she loves being held, petted, and cuddled. She may whine when asking for attention, but treats are a reliable way to win her heart.
Birdie enjoys other dogs and loves sleeping beside her foster siblings, though she can be bossy with dogs her size or smaller. She would do best with respectful canine companions. She cannot live with cats because she enjoys chasing them.
Ideal Home
Birdie would thrive with older, dog-savvy children who understand that she needs patience and time to adjust. She is a sweet, gentle dog whose personality is emerging more each day. She also appears to enjoy wearing dog sweaters.
Ongoing Health
Birdie is scheduled to receive a dental cleaning with extractions as needed, along with her spay.
Training & Support
Birdie is crate trained and doing well with housebreaking. She is still learning to walk on a leash and become comfortable with neighborhood sights and sounds, so her adopter should be prepared to give her time, patience, and kindness as she adjusts.
