Morty is a handsome 2-year-old, 17-pound piebald Dachshund with an outgoing personality and a lot of energy! He came to us after his owner passed away and has shown incredible resilience, adapting beautifully to his foster home. Morty loves to be on your lap and is incredibly cuddly, often found all snuggled up in a blanket. He's been well-behaved with cats and other small dogs, settling in quickly. Morty is eager to please and loves to play, especially with frisbees and tennis balls. He's athletic and can jump onto furniture and into cars, but his speed means he'll need ongoing work on his recall. He hasn't shown any food aggression with other dogs.
Ideal Home
Morty would do best in an active home with a fenced yard to help him burn off energy. He is not the best candidate for homes with children and we know he will chase a cat.

Morty is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.
Training & Support
Morty has a basic foundation in obedience and house training, knowing "sit" and learning leash manners. He is very trainable and food-motivated. We are actively working on his protective streak, which can manifest as moderate reactivity to new people and guarding his human. He also has a tendency to jump up and be mouthy when meeting new people, but he warms up quickly once he knows you. Proper introductions and corrections are key to helping him succeed. He is still working on daytime kennel usage and his recall.

Transporation
Morty is fostered throughout the Puget Sound area. He can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend or through scheduled meet-and-greets after application review. Prospective adopters must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, to allow for a home visit. We do not ship dogs out of state.
