Dixie is a bright and beautiful 8-month-old husky mix, weighing around 25 lbs, with the most captivating blue eyes! She and her mom were found on a rainy day near a highway, unsure of where to go. Thankfully, a kind person stopped and gently coaxed them to safety. Dixie's mom, a spaniel mix, has already found her forever home, and while we don't know who Dixie's dad is, we don't anticipate her getting much larger than her 30 lb mom. Dixie is kennel-trained and is quickly learning new commands. She's incredibly smart and eager to please, so with a little one-on-one attention, she'll be a pro in no time! She absolutely adores other dogs and gets along wonderfully with both small and big pups. Dixie is currently being fostered at a temporary sanctuary near the Texas/Mexico border.
Ideal Home
Dixie is still learning to trust humans, so she'll thrive in a home that is patient, understanding, and gentle. Having another dog in the house would be a fantastic asset to help her gain confidence and come out of her shell. If a canine companion isn't an option, regular playdates or visits to doggy daycare would be wonderful for her. She's discovering the joy of toys and loves to play!
Ongoing Health
Dixie is spayed, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention. She has also been dewormed and will receive a clean bill of health from a licensed veterinarian before transport.
Training & Support
Dixie is working on her trust with humans and is eager to learn commands. With positive reinforcement and patience, she'll blossom!

Transportation
Dixie is currently in Texas. We only adopt animals to the Central US and the East Coast, as Texas has a high euthanasia rate. The adoption fee of $525 includes transport from Texas to the listed destination. Transport occurs every 2-3 weeks to the following locations (specific areas may vary based on adopter locations): Albany and Latham, NY; Wells and Brattleboro, VT; Willington, New Haven, and Dayville, CT; Port Chester, NY; Dayton and Akron, OH; Grove City and Bloomsburg, PA; Ridgefield and Mt Laurel, NJ; White Marsh/Elkton, MD; and Falls Church, VA.
