If pure joy could grow four legs and a wagging tail, it would be Jay Smiles! This happy-go-lucky little guy is convinced every day is the best day ever, and it's hard not to agree when you're around him. At around a year old and just 27 pounds, Jay is the perfect medium-small size, big enough for adventures but small enough to snuggle up on the couch. He absolutely adores other dogs and lights up when he sees them, initiating play with the cutest "play hops." His favorite activity is a game of tug with his foster sister, and he'll even gently paw and kiss her awake to start the fun. Jay also loves toys and will happily entertain himself if no playmates are available. He enjoys fetch with his people, lounging in the sunshine, and exploring a fenced backyard, which is a must for him. Despite his playful nature, Jay is also easygoing and will quietly nap while his foster works or follow them while gardening. He can be a little shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly, becoming an affectionate cuddle bug.
Ideal Home
Jay would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and at least one playful dog companion. Because he can be shy and needs time to build confidence, a quieter home without very young children is preferred; older teenagers may be suitable.
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned, and he is up-to-date on vetting.
Training & Support
Jay is crate trained, potty trained, walks nicely on leash, knows how to sit, and shares treats well with other dogs. He has excellent social skills and gets along with dogs of all sizes. He has also met cats and, with guidance, would do best in a home with a dog-savvy cat and another dog.
