About Tamera Honey The Sweetest Family Dog
Tamera Honey is a truly special girl, radiating an almost overwhelming amount of love and affection. If you're looking for a dog who will melt into your arms, lean in for endless pets, and make you feel like the most important person in the world, Tamera Honey is your girl! She possesses that big, joyful, all-in kind of love that Shepherd enthusiasts adore. Her sweetness is infectious, making every interaction a highlight of her day. But her charm doesn't stop there – Tamera Honey is also fantastic with children, friendly towards other dogs, and respectful of cats. She's intelligent, and honestly, the list of her wonderful qualities seems endless. She's truly one of a kind.

Tamera Honey is believed to be a German Shepherd mix, around 12 years old and weighing 58 lbs. As with any rescue, her exact age and breed are a mystery, but her German Shepherd looks are quite apparent! We're hoping to find adopters with some German Shepherd experience who appreciate their independent spirit and are ready for a loving, adventurous companion.
Tamera Honey is dog-friendly and has enjoyed introductions with all the dogs she's met. She prefers a slightly slower introduction before diving into play. When she does play, it's pure Shepherd joy – playful nips in the air, gentle nose boops, and spirited chase games. She's more of a "bounce around and run alongside" kind of player rather than a rough-and-tumble wrestler. She'll offer a gentle correction if play gets too intense, like an older sister setting boundaries, always respectfully. Tamera would do best with a moderately playful dog who enjoys a good balance of playtime and downtime. However, if you don't have another dog, that's perfectly fine too! Tamera is a devoted lovebug and will be just as happy with backyard play sessions or neighborhood walks with you. She also met our resident cat, Biggie, and was wonderfully respectful, showing no signs of chasing or being bothered by typical cat behavior. Biggie was comfortable around her as well. While we don't know her full history with cats, her behavior was very promising. If you have a feline friend, we can arrange a meet-and-greet or a sleepover to ensure a good fit.
This smart cookie is highly treat-motivated and eager to please, already mastering several tricks! She knows sit, down, shake, spin, roll over, and speak! Tamera loves to make you happy, and we're confident she'd excel with further training. She walks fairly nicely on a leash, occasionally pulling out of excitement, but she's easily redirected with gentle reminders. She's also comfortable walking alongside other dogs. To top it all off, Tamera is crate trained and potty trained! With consistency and positive reinforcement, any additional training will be a fun and rewarding experience for both of you.
Ideal Home
Tamera Honey would thrive in a semi-active home that enjoys neighborhood walks, a bit of adventure, and plenty of affection. She'll be the first to greet your guests if you love to entertain, but she's also perfectly content with a quiet day at home by your side. She'd make an amazing adventure buddy, joining you on trips to the park, nature trails, or any outing, charming everyone she meets. A home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs and enjoy the sunshine would be ideal. Apartment living would not be a good fit for Tamera due to her vocal nature.
