Meet Luke! He's a sweet, energetic 4-almost-5-year-old pup who loves meeting new people, getting scratches, and chewing on his toys. This 32lb mixed breed boy is black with stubby legs and a white patch on his chest. Luke adores people, but he can be protective of his humans when other dogs are around. He was found as the last pup of his litter and has had a couple of homes before coming to us. He can be a bit skittish at times, which we believe is related to his past.
Luke's favorite way to greet you is by presenting you with a toy, slipper, or sock he's found, showering you with tail wags and kisses. He lives with a cat and, while generally good, can be a little grumpy with the feline friend occasionally. He's still learning leash manners and can get overly excited when he sees other dogs, but he recently had a positive experience at doggy daycare, showing he can be okay with other pups when introduced properly. He was trained on sit, lay down, and stay, but can be a bit stubborn if not consistently asked. Luke will bark at potential threats outside, like cars, but can usually be redirected. He enjoys cuddling but isn't a fan of face-to-face close contact. He loves his routine of sleeping in bed and lounging on the couch. When he plays rough, he can get a bit bitey, so it’s something to be mindful of, but he’s a fun dog to play with when prompted.
Luke has had a couple of incidents where children did not respect his space, and he reacted. While he has been around other children and enjoys their company, he absolutely cannot be left unsupervised with them, as they may not always understand or respect his boundaries. He is up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered.
Luke is a very sweet and loving dog who would thrive with a family that has older children or adult owners. A backyard would be ideal, but he has also lived happily in an apartment. He's a fantastic travel companion and loves sticking his head out the window on car rides.

He needs supervision around children due to past incidents and to ensure boundaries are respected.
