BRUTUS

Brutus is a goofy, sweet, and trusting large male Shepherd/Pit mix who is ready for his forever adventure! He initially shows some nervousness in new environments and with novel stimuli, but with a slow, gentle approach and positive reinforcement, his confidence blossoms. Brutus loves to be right by your side, enjoys plenty of pets and kisses, and is a master at fetch. He can be a strong puller on leash, but with engaging treats and consistent training, he can develop a solid "heel." He has made progress on his "stay" command and knows basic commands like "sit" and "down." Brutus is also crate trained, potty trained, and does not bark when left alone for several hours. He is not a destructive chewer and enjoys playing with his toys.

Ideal Home

Brutus would thrive in an adult-only household where he can receive patient and gentle guidance. He craves love and attention, especially from women, and would benefit from an experienced adopter who can help him navigate new experiences and work on his reactions to other animals. He doesn't do well with excessive noise pollution.

Ongoing Health

Brutus is a healthy boy with no known ongoing health conditions.

Training & Support

Brutus needs continued leash training to manage his strong pulling tendency. He is reactive to other animals, especially dogs, and while he doesn't intend to hurt them, he doesn't yet know how to play appropriately. He can be a bit of a "scaredy-dog" and may not always give clear warning signs when he is uncomfortable. An experienced adopter who can provide consistent training and positive exposure to new environments will be key to his success.
