Gigi is a approximately 3-year-old, 40lb female Staffordshire Terrier mix with a heart full of love to give. She was found wandering the streets of Saltillo, Mexico, in a vulnerable state and quickly captured the hearts of her rescuers. Despite a challenging start that required hospitalization due to coagulation issues, Gigi is a fighter who overcame her health struggles with incredible resilience. She is deeply grateful for her second chance at life and is eager to find a family that will cherish her. Gigi is described as friendly, affectionate, loyal, gentle, playful, smart, protective, brave, curious, independent, funny, athletic, quiet, dignified, and loving. She enjoys kisses, is sweet, joyful, beautiful, mellow, caring, cheerful, and cuddly. She is also described as an obedient, patient, dashing, devoted, sensitive, eager to please, silly, snuggly, entertaining, warm, and intelligent companion. Gigi is known to be dog-friendly.
Ideal Home
Gigi would thrive in a home with owners who have a fenced backyard and enjoy outdoor activities. Families experienced with the Staffordshire Terrier breed and who understand the needs and behaviors of rescued animals are ideal. A high level of tolerance and patience is also important, as Gigi is a rescued dog who is still learning and growing.
Ongoing Health
Gigi is spayed and up-to-date on all her vaccinations, including DHPPI, Rabies, and Bordetella. She has been dewormed and tested negative for heartworm. She is on monthly Nexgard Spectra preventive for fleas, ticks, and heartworm. She has a health certificate and vaccination booklet.
Training & Support
Gigi is not house-trained and will require ongoing training and patience in this area. Her rescuers emphasize that rescued dogs are not always potty-trained and that the rescue's priority is their health and emotional rehabilitation, making house-training individual dogs challenging. Potential adopters should have experience with dog behavior and training.
