Meet Hugo, a distinguished senior Staffie with a heart full of love to give! Hugo came to us when his previous guardian had to move and couldn't find housing that allowed dogs. He has a wonderful history of living with other large breed dogs, chickens, and cats, and he even had experience living outdoors. Recently, he's been enjoying overnights with one of our dedicated volunteers and has proven himself to be completely potty trained and a very relaxed, comfortable house guest. Hugo is a toy enthusiast who absolutely loves to play fetch with tennis balls! He's also a fantastic car rider, content to lay down until you reach your destination. Since arriving at the shelter, Hugo has shown himself to be easy-going and has maintained a tidy kennel. He even had a positive meet-and-greet with a spirited small breed dog here at the shelter. A home with other animals could be a great fit for Hugo, provided introductions are done slowly and thoughtfully. - Applications start by contacting us through Wags.
- Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11 am - 6 pm, 7 days a week.
- While you can see any animals in their kennels during open hours, meet-and-greets end at 4:30 pm daily.
- To meet an animal out of their kennel, please arrive before 4:00 pm.
- Adoptions come with “Pawsitivity Bucks,” a $200 training voucher for positive reinforcement-based behavior consultants.
