Penny(Poppy)

Penny (Poppy) is back with our rescue as of May 2026. Unfortunately, she was the victim of 3 dogs attacking her in her own home, and it is not safe for her to be there anymore. She had surgery to stitch up her wounds and spent a few days at the vet healing. She is currently on route to a medical foster in TX and will get her staples out in 1 week. She is desperately looking for her happily ever after forever home! She deserves a home where she can feel safe and loved.

She is easy to walk on a leash and loves being around people. She greets strangers with a tail wag and is friendly. In her previous home, she was content to be around her owner but also fine being by herself in the room. She currently does not mind being around other dogs in a safe controlled environment. Once she settles in, we will be able to determine if she is able to live with other dogs or if she prefers them at a safer distance under the control of another humans. She is quite the trooper and very resilient for what she recently endured. We know her perfect home is out there. She sure has a lot of love to give for whoever that lucky person is.

Update 6/4/2026 Poppy's wounds have all healed! We have learned that she is an excellent travel companion. She is really attuned to a person and will lean in to that person when she senses she needs to. She would do best in a home as the only dog but that doesn't mean she's a homebody. She loves being with her human and does not mind other dogs leashed when out and about.

She really is a sweet and special dog just waiting for her ideal home.
