About Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, neutered male hound/retriever mix weighing 56 pounds. He was rescued from the streets and then from the county shelter in San Antonio. Comet, also known as Buddy, is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to please and is very trainable. He has a high, but not obnoxious, energy level and enjoys a good zoomie session. He has a balanced playstyle and has shown no food or resource aggression. Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained, and he does not pull on the leash. He sleeps through the night in his crate without whining and will alert you when he needs to go outside. While he doesn't seem to have separation anxiety, he is crated when unsupervised because he enjoys tasting things he shouldn't. Comet is a resilient and adaptable dog looking for his forever family.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to snuggle and play with. He has done well with indoor cats and children, but due to his herding instinct, a home with children aged 10 and older, or those who can understand animal behavior cues, is recommended. Comet can be a bit wary of men, so patience and consistency will be key for him to warm up to his new male family members.

Ongoing Health

Comet is up-to-date on his vaccinations and has been neutered.

Training & Support

Comet is fully house, crate, and leash trained. He does not pull on the leash and sleeps soundly in his crate at night. He is learning to not test things with his mouth and is crated when unsupervised. Comet is a bit wary of men, so patience and consistency will help him build trust.
